On the last day of the school year, our high school students participated in an impactful day of service which included learning about homelessness and visiting community organizations.
Students heard firsthand from a panel of speakers currently facing the challenges of experiencing homelessness. They learned more about the various scenarios surrounding those challenges, highlighting the choices they have to face. One student noted that hearing of these experiences made them realize the significant struggles people face and to be grateful for what they have.
Throughout the day students broke out into teams serving our local community, working with 12 different organizations around the St. Cloud Area including; Homeless Helping Homeless, Tri-County Humane Society, and Kids Fighting Hunger.
As the day concluded, Principal Kathy Crispo shared: “Our hope for today was simple. That we can touch the hearts of our students in such a way, that their minds are open to understanding more about their wider community.”
